Jamie Silvestri is a lifelong Huntington resident, born in Huntington Hospital the evening of January 29, 1990.
She attended Trinity Regional School and Holy Family Regional School, and graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in 2008 after being involved with the National Honor Society, the track and golf teams, and achieving a GPA which enabled my participation in the PRO Team, taking prospective students and parents on tours of the school and answering their questions.
During her college career, she had the opportunity to be a marketing intern in Stamford, CT at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) where her organizational and cross-functional team working skills were enhanced. Jamie became a member of Theta Phi Alpha National Sorority. Theta Phi Alpha would co-sponsor events such as the September 11th memorial at Stony Brook Veteran’s Home, donate food to the local food banks, and host on-campus programs regarding issues surrounding the community.
In 2016, Jamie graduated from Farmingdale State College with a BS in Professional Communications. Throughout her time at Farmingdale, her professional research and writing skills were sharpened, gaining her membership to Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Association’s official honor society, and landing her on the President’s List for academic achievement.
In 2013, she started to volunteer for the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe, where famed engineer and scientist Nikola Tesla once lived. Maintenance of the property is always needed for future goals to be achieved on the land. A multitude of people from various areas come to help restore this important piece of Long Island history.
Jamie has always worked for small business owners throughout the Huntington area. The first four years of her professional career were in the medical field. Jamie started her first job with a physical therapist in Melville at 16 years old. Being able to aid in people’s healing was an incredibly rewarding experience for her. This is where she learned a great deal about the health insurance industry. Jamie currently works in Financial Services, as an Office Manager at RSA Financial Group, located in Melville. Jamie says, "We help people prepare their financial future and help them during both, good and bad times. Knowing that we support people, when they need us the most, is incredibly uplifting."
Jamie's mother, Karen, is a single parent who always worked hard to give Jamie the best foundation to build her life upon. Jamie remembers when Karen went back to school in 2001 to earn her Associates Degree at Farmingdale State College, followed by CW Post for her Bachelor’s in Education and Master’s in Literacy. "Watching how hard she worked, while still taking the time to be an amazing parent, taught me that you can truly accomplish whatever you set your mind to and work to achieve." Karen currently works in the Half Hollow Hills School District. Jamie's grandfather, Al, joined the Melville Fire Department in 1952, and has been an active member ever since. He has also been a proud member of the Carpenters Union since 1952. Jamie's grandmother, Bea, is the daughter of immigrants who came to the United States from Germany and Ireland in 1925 and immediately made Long Island their home.
Jamie's family, her schooling, and her career has taught her the importance of working for what you want and being dedicated to one’s principles; because of these lessons, she has a tenacious energy about politics. Jamie is currently the Press Secretary for the Huntington Young Republicans, a Huntington Republican Committeeperson, and a Suffolk County Republican Committeeperson. She truly enjoys engaging with others, no matter their political views. Jamie believes that keeping an open mind to differing views is crucial to the growth and development of the individual.
"The catch-and-release of criminals, one-party rule silencing the voices of so many people, and the massive exodus of residents from New York inspired me to run for New York State Assembly. I envision a New York where residents feel safe walking down the street, where people across the state are truly heard, and where all parties can work together to create solutions for the problems we currently face." -Jamie Silvestri
Jamie is excited for the 2020 campaign season and restoring power to the people, taking back the historically Republican Assembly seat formerly held by Supervisor Chad Lupinacci, the late Jim Conte, and our former Huntington Republican Chairman, who we tragically lost earlier this year, Toni Tepe!
